A Far Sun

My web comic/graphic web novel "A Far Sun" is on its way. I will be finishing the draft of the "screen story" (or would it be the web play story?) in the next few weeks. I already have over 50,000 words written, which constitutes the first half of the story, and I've plotted out the second half. This half may not be 50K words, but we'll see.

I am really jazzed about this story. It's really good, and when I told my collaborators (you know who you are!) they all agreed that my ending is "really cool." But, I'm not bragging, I think the ending is pretty good, too.

My spouse, who is my #1 collaborator, has been quite instrumental in my story development. She has a most exquisite grasp of the higher ideas (and ideals) I'm trying to present in the story, and always has the very best feedback as I run all my crackpot ideas past her. Yes, she'll be the one to whom I dedicate this work.

She has suggested I turn the story into a regular novel as well as a graphic novel. Obviously that gives me some additional leeway in the story telling that might be interesting. At the least it gives an additional dimension to the telling: the internal story of the feelings and thoughts of the characters. Of course, we can and do show these things visually. It's just a little more "robust" treatment in the conventional novel form. We'll see. Once I've finished the web play for the graphic novel I may be storied-out on this particular tale. But then there's the sequel, etc., so maybe it never ends.

No, the story doesn't end with this ending. It's really just another beginning. You see, I believe in keeping hope alive. Not that I hope I get the chance to write the sequel, or anything, but that I would not end this story without making sure hope was alive in the story. And if hope is alive, then there's more story to tell. There's always more.

Meanwhile my artist is quite busy trying to maintain her 3.9+ GPA in art school, I kid you not. I will just have to be patient, because I absolutely believe she will do the very best job illustrating this thing. And the best part of all this is that everyone on this project is family. I am literally on top of the world, so lucky am I!

Today I bought the domain name "www.afarsun.com". Nothing online for it, yet, but soon (as soon as I get a little more time) I will be putting up a nice (empty) main page so folks have somewhere to navigate to.
