For all the work I do as a private citizen/sole proprietor, I use a DBA: RLA Enterprises. And, believe it or not, I did not want RLAEnterprises.com. Dot Net was my first choice, and it was available. So ... what's RLA stand for?

I lived most of my adult life in Atlanta, Georgia, though I now live in (and am a native of) Columbus, Ohio. I moved back "home" after becoming divorced and realizing that I had nothing to keep me down in Atlanta except my career. We had no children. All my family (except the ex-wife) live here in Columbus, so I finally decided that quality of life was at least as important as career, and moved back. I believe I made the right decision.
Since there was a technology boom going on at the time (this was 1999), I had little trouble (er ... no trouble) finding suitable employment in the old hometown. So I came back, played some golf, visited my parents (and brothers), and started dating, again. So far, so good. I'm now in an LTR, and we even have a dog!
I write computer software for a large insurance company in Columbus, Ohio. Nothing much to report, here, except that it pays the bills. In case no one has noticed, there ain't no boom going on, these days. I consider myself fortunate to be employed, though I am no slouch in my chosen career field.
I write a lot of fiction. Currently I've been working on a rather long novel in two "books". I've finished the first book, and I am in the process of writing the second one. I have posted some chapters from book 1. Maybe someone will be interested in reading them.
Who knows?
In May I decided we needed to remodel (uh, I guess since it's currently unfinished, technically it would be finishing) the basement in our condo. OK, good. Since I am a techie, of course it made sense to go buy a CAD program so I could do some design work for the new rooms we plan to build.
After some exhaustive research into various home design programs (I evaluated 3D Home Designer, BH&G Home Designer Suite/Pro, Chief Architect, and Punch), I decided to spend the $500 and buy the BH&G Home Designer Pro product. It was developed by Art, Inc., the designer of Chief Architect. It also works very much like the "real thing", too.
Well, since I spent a lot of time in my childhood dreaming of becoming an architect (and I even studied architecture in college, for a while) acquiring a tool that would let my imagination run wild led me to start doing house designs (in my copious spare time, of course).
Check out this page for some of my designs.
I also have, from time to time, played Dungeons & Dragons with friends. I was running my own campaign, but time (and other things) prompted me to discontinue it. Right now we are planning (a friend and me) a science fiction/time-travel game using the GURPS rules. We'll see how that goes.
