Millersburg, OH is located in the heart of Ohio Amish country. The town has many great examples of Victorian homes built probably in the mid 1880's to 1890's. The courthouse, dating from 1884 (see, I was right!) is especially striking. If you are a fan of historic American architecture of the 19th and 20th centuries, Millersburg should be a stop on your journey. I only wish I had more images to share. It was late in the day when we were there, and the sun's angle made many photos difficult to impossible.
Just a note: I have rehosted all these photos to Flickr.
209K. This is an amazing Queen Anne Victorian house. Yes, the house is as huge as it looks!
220K. Here is a side view of this massive house. I believe it is operated as a museum, but it was closed by the time we arrived. Oh, well.
260K. Here is the historic Cary House. Obviously, it was in the process of being renovated. I tried to get other shots, but we were running out of time.
185K. And here is the 1884 Holmes County Courthouse. I had no idea it would be so ... impressive ... but trust me: the real thing is even more imposing.
Case dismissed.
341K. I'm not sure what this building is, but it's on the courthouse square. Oh, and they really don't do them this way, anymore.
