This design is reminiscent of some of the Suburban Contemporary Series houses, in that parts of the floor plan (in this house, both the first and second floors) are rotated 45°. You can see part of this "rotation" in the image below, particularly the stairwell at right center.
The design is just over 2,330 sq. ft., with 3 bedrooms, all upstairs. Downstairs are all the usual rooms: living, dining, a family room, kitchen, breakfast nook, and a study. Though there is a basement, the stairs down are inside the garage. The laundry and a half bath are off the kitchen.
I like the front entrance, with the brick steps that led up to the front door. I placed several planters across the front. It's not a bad feature.
You can see the rotated parts of the first floor somewhat better from this rear view, below. On the second floor, left center, is the master bath (with the 2 arched windows).
Some things worth noting:
On the second floor (below), you might want to note the following:
Here is the front view, at night.
This view shows the front steps and the planters.
Here we are standing inside the front door looking toward the family/living rooms. Note the niche at left. I know the things I placed there aren't really large enough for the nook.
This view looks back toward the front door. I decided to fill the area along the wall with "artsy" stuff.
This looks toward the stairwell. That's the doorway to the family room on the left.
Once we go through the doorway into the family room, first we turn toward the kitchen. That's the breakfast nook at the far end, on the left. On the near left, that's the doorway to the entrance foyer.
We walk past the peninsula counter to get a better view of the kitchen. Note the sink in the corner cabinet and its 2 corner windows.
This view shows the refrigerator and the nook. We also get a closer view of the sink.
This view looks from the kitchen toward the laundry room. The open doorway at left is the half bath. Of course, that's the breakfast nook on the right.
Final view of the kitchen, looking toward the family room, and the living room beyond.
From the nook, this looks out toward the kitchen. I know, not much to see except that pretty cool framed photograph on the right.
This is the dining room, looking toward the living room.
Here is another view of the dining room, from the doorway to the study.
From the family room, outside the doorway to the foyer, here we take a closer look at the living room.
From the end of the couch, this shows the study.
From the center of the couch, this shows the family room, and the dining room through the doorway on the right.
From the study, this looks toward the living room. Note that the wood panel at left obscures a window.
Now we go upstairs. This is from the landing of the stairway.
From the upstairs hall, this is a narrow view of the stairs.
Here is the front bedroom (it's to the left in the main front image at top). I have it decorated for 2 smaller boys. Seemed appropriate.
This the upstairs bath. The tub at left has a glassed-in shower.
The back bedroom, fitted out for a young lady.
Now we are in the master suite, standing in the corner looking toward the alcove.
From the alcove in the master bedroom, we look toward the bed.
The master bath, from the vicinity of the door. No, there is no separate water closet for the toilet, much to my dismay. There simply wasn't room to fit one in.
Final view of the master bath, from the vicinity of the shower. That's the door to the closet on the right; to the left is the master bedroom.
